1969 American Motors AMX - 390 4bbl- 4 speed - Drive and Show!
This is a very low production, 1969 American Motors AMX 390 cubic inch 4 bbl 4 speed, refinished in Bittersweet Orange (Copper/Bronze) that is “turn key” ready for the Cruise Events and Casual Car Shows. The AMX engines were not stamped with VIN numbers and yes, this one does have the original correct “390” casting of 3190806, and the VIN decodes correctly as an AMX 390 4 bbl. It has the 4 Speed transmission. The “Go Package” included the 343 OR. 390 4V, Power Front Disc Brakes, dual Stripes, and a suspension upgrade. This option can only be proven as original with an original order/build sheet or MSRP window sticker. This one does seem to check the boxes. This is an excellent driver that has recently experienced “road trips” and always puts a smile on the faces of those that remember how rare they were to see, even when they were new! The restoration of the paint and body is older and yet still shows very well overall. Mechanically, there are no receipts for the rebuild and restoration done by a previous owner although there will be no doubt when you see, hear and drive the car, that it has been cared for and kept up. The mileage showing on the odometer is close to 96,000 and while it can't be relied upon as original miles, the caring owners in the past have provided the investment in the restoration process as needed to keep it mechanically strong and proudly shown as the Collectible that it is. Other options include Tile Wheel, Power Steering and Power Disc Brakes, the in dash Tachometer and an upgraded Stereo System with CD. It is not with out the expected flaws of an older restoration that has been enjoyed over time, although you can't beat the opportunity at this price. With just over 8,000 1969 AMX's built, a mere 3,620 had the 390 4V 4 Speed option boxes checked!
